The Nigerian Navy has seized three boats with 47,000 litres of a product suspected to be illegally refined Automative Gas Oil.
A Commander in the Nigerian Navy, Commodore Saidu Garba, who said this in Ikot Abasi on Saturday, praised the anti-crude oil theft operations of the Navy for achieving the results.
According to him, over 47,000 litres of a liquid suspected to be AGO, three wooden boats, 113 drums of 250 litres of AGO and 188 empty drums had been recovered from the suspects in Ibeno community of the Ibeno Local Government Area of the state.
He added that the command acted on a tip-off and that the suspects were arrested in the creeks of Ibeno.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 6 Command, Calabar, Cross River State, Abubakar Marafa, has warned policemen in the country against the misuse of firearms.
He lamented that there had been frequent cases of firearm misuse by policemen on duty, adding that the development had led to the loss of lives.
Speaking in Uyo on Friday during a visit to the state police command, Marafa explained that policemen were only allowed to shoot when their lives were threatened.
