Amir Darbanou has been charged to court over the murder of his 35-year old wife, Nasrin Abek.
The 35-year-old hairdresser was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband because she converted from Islam to Christianity.
The hairdresser’s body was found inside the couple’s apartment located in a choice location in suburb of Potts Point.
The husband, 42, from Iran, was reported to have been enraged by his wife’s move that he attacked her with a knife on Wednesday night. Her body was however found on Thursday after the deceased’s father raised an alarm and the police forced their way into the couple’s apartment.
Mr. Darbanou, the suspect, allegedly called his father-in-law in Iran to tell him Ms Abek was dead on Wednesday night and was arrested after her body was found the next day.
