PDP Crisis: Makarfi committee accused of collecting N50m monthly from governors

The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday in Abuja accused the sacked national caretaker committee under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Makarfi of collecting N50m monthly subvention from governors of the party.

It alleged that this was why the members of the committee which had been outlawed by the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were unwilling to let go.

Ex-Minister of Petroleum, Diezani moved $115.01m, gave Belgore, Sulaiman N450m

An official of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr Timothy Olaobaju, on Monday, narrated how a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, stashed a sum of $115,010,000 in the bank with subsequent instruction to change it into naira and distribute it among individuals in the 36 states of the federation.

Among the beneficiaries, Olaobaju said, were a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Dele Belgore; and a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, who both received N450m.

Police gun down two armed robbers in fierce battle after allegedly stealing N105, 000

Two robbery suspects belonging to a three-man gang have been killed by officers of the Bayelsa state police command.

They were shot dead after they allegedly robbed a supermarket in Yenagoa and carted away the sum of N105,000.

A police team from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrived the robbery scene following a distress call and immediately engaged the robbers in a gunfight which resulted in fatal injuries to two members of the three-man gang.

A Naval personnel allegedly found in possession of 14.5 kilogrammes of Indian Hemp (cannabis sativa) has been dismissed and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for prosecution.

According to a statement signed and issued by spokesperson of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Lieutenant Elizabeth Ibrahim, the officer was dismissed after he was arrested with the substance, summarily tried, and found guilty of the offence.

Federal Government bans helicopter shuttle from Kaduna to Abuja

The National Security Adviser, Babagana Munguno, has banned the planned helicopter shuttle service from Kaduna to Abuja by some helicopter companies.

In a memo banning the move, Munguno said, “In view of the closure of the airport, air travelers will be required to travel by road/train to Abuja from Kaduna International Airport. This will undoubtedly cause constraints on the movement of some passengers who will aim to travel using other means, notably the use of commercial ferry helicopters.
