Fire outbreak destroys property worth millions of naira in Edo


Fire on Tuesday razed a storey building in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, destroying several properties worth millions of naira.

It was learnt that the building, located on 83, Forestry road‎ in Benin, the state capital, had rented apartments at the top floor while different business centres and a generator store were accommodated below.

An 18-year-old teenager in North Carolina was arrested on Monday after decapitating his mother and then calling police, authorities say. Oliver Funez walked out of the house carrying a butcher’s knife in one hand and his mother’s severed head in the other as police arrived, reports said.

Police said that Funez called police to the house just east of Zebulon, North Carolina around 1pm on Monday. When police arrived, officers said he placed the head on the ground and was arrested.

Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday said that the Federal Government will deliver a fast and efficient rail service system between Lagos and Ibadan within a projected time frame of December 2018.

Osinbajo, who spoke at the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Segment II Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project with Extension to Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, held at the Nigerian Railway Corporation compound, Ebute-metta, recalled that President Buhari, during his visit to China in January 2016, reopened negotiation on the Chinese support for the project under the Lagos-Kano modernization project.

Nigeria Police vow to rescue kidnapped DPO in Delta unhurt


The Delta Police Command has intensified efforts to rescue the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) in charge of ‘C’ Division, Asaba, who was allegedly kidnapped by gunmen last Sunday along Agbor-Asaba highway.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Asaba that the police had launched manhunt to rescue the DPO.

It says, “…I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace….” What is grace? It’s God’s loving-kindness, bestowing unconditional blessings and favours, even to the undeserving.
