Adamawa State | Army repels Boko Haram attack in Madagali Community

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday repelled an early morning attack by fleeing Boko Haram insurgent on Dar village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Chairman of Madagali Local Government, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed, said the attack was contained by the prompt response of security operatives in the areas.

He lauded the efforts of security agencies and local vigilantes and urged for more support to secure the area.

Lagos State | Cultist Allegedly Murders Girlfriend, Dumps Corpse In A Well

Homicide detectives at the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos State, have arrested a suspected cult member, who murdered his girlfriend and dumped her corpse in a well at the Igando area of the Lagos State.

The suspect, Yemi, 27, was said to have beaten his girlfriend to death after accusing her of dating a rival cult member in the community.

The incident, which happened on December 30, was said to have shocked and angered residents. The body of the lady was discovered when a neighbour went to the well to fetch water.

12-year-old boy bags six months sentence for using knife to rob shops (Photo)

A 12-year-old boy has been jailed for six months after robbing two shops and mugging a man at knifepoint in a five-month reign of terror.

Mirror UK reports that the young boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, terrorised his victims from June to November this year. But as he was being handed a six-month detention order, he wept in court alongside his mum as he was led to cells.

The young boy mugged a man for his mobile phone after pulling out a three-inch flick knife on him in Dagenham, Essex, on June 24.

Arm Men Behead Woman For Going Shopping Without Her Husband

A woman has reportedly been beheaded by a group of armed men in Afghanistan after she entered a city without her husband.

The horrific act took place in the remote village of Latti in Sar-e-Pul province, which is under Taliban control.

Under Taliban rule, women are prohibited from leaving their homes unless accompanied by a close male relative. They are also banned from working or education and are forced to wear the burqa.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has urged monarchs in Yoruba land to throw away the various idols in their palaces, saying God hates idolatry.

Speaking to Punch in a telephone interview with their correspondent in Osogbo, on Tuesday, Oba Akanbi said he believed that the palaces of monarchs must be without idols, warning traditional rulers to shun idolatry, saying God would not help any town whose monarch worshiped other gods.

The Iwo monarch explained that people should be able to come to their palace and pray to God, saying this would not be until the monarchs rid their palaces of strange gods, which he said could not help them.

FIFA overwhelmingly support 48-Team participation in World Cup

Global football federations are “overwhelmingly in favour’’ of plans for a 48-team World Cup, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Wednesday.

The head of football’s governing body had outlined his vision for an expanded tournament comprising 16 groups of three teams earlier this month.

According to his plan, the top two teams in each group would progress to the knockout rounds.

A decision will be made in January but any change to the 32-team format is unlikely to come in before 2026.
