Three suspected internet scammers have been nabbed by the police. In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, Oyo state Police Public Relations (PPRO), SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said.
“Their arrest was made possible following a tip-off by members of the public. 
The suspects, Lanre (26), Sukanmi (28) and Opeyemi (26) were picked up from their hideout at Soka area, Ibadan, at about 6.30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16 by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

Senate interferes into crisis between ASUU, FG


Sen. Jibril Barau (APC-Kano), says the Senate has intervened in the crisis between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Barau made this known when he was briefing Senate correspondents after a closed-door meeting with the leadership of ASUU, Minister of State for Education and other stakeholders in Abuja on Wednesday.
“After the deliberation, we set up a sub-committee that will meet with the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Budget and Planning to resolve the issues,” Barau said.

Presidency: ‘Several deceitful ghost projects awarded under Former President GEJ’


The Presidency has disclosed that a number of deceitful and ghost projects were awarded under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Many of the projects were said to be merely on paper and no payment was made for their start-up.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, revealed these in an interview program on Express Radio in Kano on Tuesday.

Reps says over 1 million Nigerians in Magboro, Ibafo have not had electricity for 10 years


The House of Representatives on Wednesday directed the Ministry of Works/Power/Housing to urgently complete power projects in Magboro, Ibafo and 198 other communities in Ogun State with a view to linking the areas to the national grid.

It said the communities in Ibafo town in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, had more than one million inhabitants, but were left without electricity for “more than 10 years.”

It observed that lack of power supply had led to “paralysis of socio-economic activities, threats to lives and property and retarded growth in living standards, despite the people having spent millions of naira to purchase poles, transformers, cables and electrical appliances to enable them to be connected to the national grid.”

A former Minister of National Planning, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi, is dead. Gbadamosi, who was a leading industrialist, art collector, and writer, died Wednesday at the age of 72.

Although he was still active on the socio-cultural scene, he was said to have suffered from multiple strokes since last year and had recently gone abroad for medical treatment.

Federal Government increases Justice Ngwuta count charges to 14


It is more trouble for Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court, as the Federal Government, yesterday, expanded corruption charges against him from nine to 14. Government, through the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, entered the amended charge marked FHC/ABJ/C/232, before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Ngwuta was in the charge signed by a Principal State Counsel, Hajara H. Yusuf, alleged to have among other offences, stashed foreign currencies in his Abuja home.

Orji Uzor Kalu: I didn’t join APC to escape from EFCC


A former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, said he did not join the All Progressives Congress because of his travails in the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Kalu was responding to questions from reporters after he was received by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee of the APC in Abuja on Wednesday.

When asked whether he was joining the party because of his travails at the hands of the EFCC, Kalu said, “My family members are here (APC) and I am coming to join them.”

PDP says they will show how Aregbesola spent bailout funds


The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun state chapter, yesterday said it was ready to assist the Senate in its probe into how bailout out funds collected by Osun state government was utilized.

The PDP in a statement by its spokesperson, Prince Diran Odeyemi in Osogbo, said Osun state got highest amount of money as bailout but squandered it on phony contracts. The party declared that Governor Aregbesola allegedly actually diverted the bail out funds meant to pay workers salaries to pay some Lagos based contractors which also included a highly placed official in President Buhari’s administration.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday November 15, 2016 arraigned Onwenu Nnamdi Innocent, 38 years, before Justice O. O. Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court, sitting at Ikoyi on a one - count charge bordering on Bulk Cash Movement And Suspected Money Laundering. The matter which was initially before Justice Rita Ofili -Ajumugobia was inherited by Justice Oguntoyibo when Ajumugobia was moved out of Lagos Jurisdiction.

The matter was adjourned for arraignment on the 15th of November 2016.

When the charge were read to the defendant he pleaded not guilty.

Yang Xiuzhu, a former deputy mayor in the eastern city of Wenzhou, arrived in Beijing on Wednesday after hiding in countries across Asia, Europe, and North America.

Pandemonium rocks Ifo area of Ogun State after a bus driver, Akorede Ogunjobi, and his conductor, Kazeem Adelere, were attacked by an angry mob for allegedly abducting eight pupils of Oyes Faithful College, Ifo.

The suspects would have been lynched, but for the intervention of policemen from the state command who took them into custody.

Acording to Punch, it was learnt that 10 pupils of the school had on Tuesday joined the commercial bus marked, AKD-948-XJ Lagos, at the Techno bus stop after leaving the school. It was learnt that two unidentified men sat beside the driver, while the conductor manned the bus entrance.
