Bishop Kukah pays visit to Fani-Kayode, Obanikoro & Abati, in EFCC custody


On Monday, October 31, 2016, the highly revered Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, His Lordship, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, paid a visit to the trio of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Musiliu Obanikoro and Dr Reuben Abati in EFCC custody. On his arrival there, he met them at the clinic and afterwards had some private moments with them away from the prying eyes of journalists.

Bishop Kukah spoke inspirational words of encouragement to the trio wherein he encouraged them to be strong and see this as a trying period for them. He prayed for them before departing.

Buhari orders IGP to investigate alleged sexual assault on female IDPs by police, soldiers, others


A few days ago there was a report published by the Human Rights Watch about the alleged sexual assault by some police soldiers, vigilante, and other government officials on female IDPs in various camps in the North. 

President Buhari yesterday instructed the Inspector General of Police and governor of the states with IDP camps, to investigate the allegations. President Buhari's instruction is contained in a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba.

Man Caught With A Woman’s Head Inside A Bag At Night (Photos)


An unidentified man has been arrested by the Police at the Greater Accra campaign launch of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) after being caught with a human head.

According to Ghana Web, the man is said to have carried to the campaign grounds, a severed head of a lady.

He was nearly lynched by angry party supporters who saw him carrying the severed head in a polythene bag at the campaign grounds.

Buhari lauds Nigerian doctor, Olutoye over successful surgery on unborn baby


The Federal Government has hailed United State-based Nigerian Surgeon, Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye on his recent feat in carrying out a successful operation on an unborn baby with a tumour in her mother’s womb.

This is contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Dr. Olutoye of Texas Children’s Hospital, USA, was said to have carried out an operation on a baby at 23 weeks, who suffered from a tumour known as Sacrococcygeal Teratoma.

240 Boko Haram Members surrender to Military


No fewer than 240 members of Boko Haram sect have surrendered following sustained ground and air raid at their hideouts by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

The Task Force, made up of soldiers from Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon, had embarked on Operation Gama Aiki to flush out the insurgents from the countries.

A statement by Colonel Muhammad Dole, Chief Military Public Information Officer, said the mass defection took place in Sector 2 Area of Responsibility (AOR) Bagasola in Chad.

Ijaw group accuses Buhari of been insincere about Niger Delta problems


The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has stated that it is beginning to doubt the sincerity of President Muhammadu Buhari.

INC said the meeting with elders and leaders from the region scheduled for today may not resolve the Niger Delta problems.

President of INC, Alatubo Charles Harry, stated this yesterday when he appeared on a radio programme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in reaction to the Federal Government’s plan to bring N10 billion infrastructure fund to the region.

Super Eagles to play their 50th World Cup home match against Algeria


The Super Eagles will be playing their 50th World Cup qualifying home matches when they take on the Fennecs of Algeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo next week Saturday.

In their previous 49 home matches, the Eagles had won 39 and drawn seven, while losing three.

The first home match for Nigeria was on September 10, 1960, when they tied 2-2 with Ghana’s Black Stars in Lagos. The team had earlier lost the first leg 4-1 to the Ghanaians in Accra and crashed out of the race to the 1962 World Cup finals in Chile.

Woman batters 13-year-old niece for not taking care of her grandmother


Police in Bayelsa State have arrested a woman for allegedly battering a 13-year-old girl over her refusal to care for her 84-year-old grandmother.

The teenage girl, Hope Chime, who reportedly lost her mother in August, was accused of neglecting her grandmother and playing with her peers.

SHOCKING! Lagos hotelier turns an innocent job seeker into a sex worker (READ)


The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an hotelier, Victor Obano, for allegedly turning a 23-year-old female job seeker into a commercial sex worker in the Ijegun area of the state.

The police said Obano, who owned Tisa Hotel, allegedly lured the victim, Elizabeth, from Akwa Ibom, promising her employment in Lagos State.

Obano allegedly thereafter turned the job seeker into a sex worker in the hotel.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Elizabeth, a mother of two, reportedly got tired of being a commercial sex worker, and on October 5, told her elder sister on the telephone what she was going through.

Police parade suspects who stole two bicycles worth N3m, sold them for 10,000


The police in Lagos State have arrested two suspects, Umaru Babangida and John Samuel, in connection with the stealing of two exotic sports bicycles worth about N3m.

According to Punch, the bicycles belong to a resident of Babatunde Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, identified as Osarenkhme Afe. It was gathered that the stolen items, a Scott X10 hybrid bicycle and a giant defy advanced carbon fibre road bicycle, were valued at N1.1M and N1.9m respectively.

20-year-old Babangida, was said to have bought the Scott X10 hybrid bicycle from Samuel and other suspects at large for N10,000.

Man Who Designed The World Cup Trophy, Silvio Gazzaniga dies at age 95


Italian sculptor, Silvio Gazzaniga who designed and created the current version of the FIFA World Cup trophy has died at the age of 95. Silvio designed the trophy in 1971. He passed away in his sleep on Monday, October 31 following series of minor ailment.
