Radical Black Rights Group threatens to kill more cops in the coming days


A black rights group, Black Power Political Organisation (BPPO), has praised the devastating attack in Dallas which saw five police officers fatally shot and have also released a chilling message telling blacks to get their rifles and expect more assassinations of police officers in the coming days.

Posting their message on social media, the group wrote: "#‎BlackPower‬! ‪#‎BlackKnights‬! Sniper Assassins Take Down Five Police Officers! And More Will Be Assassinated In The Coming Days! In Abia State: Another Court throws out Ikpeazu's Application


Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday refused to hear Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu’s application for stay of execution of the June 27 judgment of the court removing him (Ikpeazu) as governor.

The judge instead directed Ikpeazu and Uche Ogah, who are both claiming to be the legitimate Governor of Abia State to go before the Court of Appeal for the resolution of the stalemate in the state.

Unidentified Cultists Kill 11 in Ogun Communities


11 persons were reportedly killed by suspected cultists on Thursday in Igode and Fakale communities in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to PUNCH, the attackers were said to be members of the Aye confraternity celebrating their anniversary on Thursday. The report said that the attackers, numbering 25 came from Emuren with cutlasses and guns.

The attackers, who wore masks targeted members of the Eiye confraternity.

They shot dead three welders at a junction bordering Emuren and Igode before proceeding to the Fakale community, where they opened fire on a crowd watching a football match in a viewing centre, killing seven persons.

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated a committee to prosecute the recovery of the Chibok girls abducted two years ago by Boko Haram insurgents. 

President Muhammadu Buhari has fulfilled his January, 2015 promise to the BringBackOurGirls campaign group concerning the rescue of the over 200 Chibok school girls in Borno. He made the promise of setting up a body to investigate the abduction of the pupils over a year after the incident.

According to the Daily Sun, Buhari has approved the list of committee members to carry out fresh investigation into the abduction of the girls from Government Girls School, Chibok, Borno State on the 14th of April 2014, by the terrorist sect, Boko Haram.

Hausas and Traders Clash in Asaba Leaves Many Injured and Properties Destroyed


No fewer than 10 persons were reportedly injured while property worth millions of naira were destroyed as hell was let loose when traders clashed with Hausa community on Thursday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

It was gathered that trouble started in the Hausa Community along Asaba-Benin Expressway popularly known as 'Trailers Parking Quarters', with some Dangote Trailer Drivers and some traders over parking space, thereby resulting to uncontrollable verbal crossfire, leaving the trailer drivers and the traders in a free for all. 

Another eyewitness account stated that the fracas was as a result of encroachment in a portion of the traders by the lorry drivers.

Fuel Scarcity Alerts! PENGASSAN to commence Strike Action 12 midnight today


Last-minute moves by the Federal Govern­ment to avert today’s strike by oil workers failed on Thursday – paving the way for the strike to begin today.

The President of the Pe­troleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Mr Francis Johnson, failed to show up at an emergency meeting called by the Min­istry of Labour and Employ­ment.

The meeting was earlier scheduled to hold today but when Johnson told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that there was no go­ing back on the strike, the government invited him to a meeting in Abuja.

But Johnson said that he did not attend the meeting be­cause he was consulting with PENGASSAN lead­ers in Lagos.

For the First Time in 15 years, NNPC Makes N274m Profit


After ten months under the stewardship of Dr. Ibe Kachikwu as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the state-run oil firm finally turned the corner, reporting an operating profit of N273.74 million for the month of May and reversing the losses of N35 billion made by NNPC over the last 15 years.

A copy of NNPC’s monthly financial and operations management report obtained yesterday showed that the corporation’s N273.74 million operating profit in May 2016 as against its operating loss of N19.43 billion in April was attributed to improved cost efficiency at the corporate headquarters of NNPC and performance by the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC).

The monthly report stated: “PPMC recorded a net gain of N17.69 billion as against the net loss of N6.91 billion in April, 2016 following complete stoppage of commercially unfavourable swaps and offshore processing agreements (OPAs).

EFCC commence plans to Seize Properties Belonging to Fayose


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced moves to seize some properties linked to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

According to the EFCC, houses to be seized are four duplexes on Victoria Island in Lagos State and one located at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.

A reliable source told our correspondent on Thursday that the houses were allegedly purchased with illegitimate funds, stating that the EFCC could invoke the Assets Forfeiture clause to seize the properties in line with sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13 (1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004.
