FG promises to pay salaries of Federal civil servants before Christmas
The office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) has promised that the Federal government will endeavor to pay the salaries of all Federal civil servants before the Christmas holiday. The Director of Funds in the office of the Accountant General, Mohammed Dikwa gave the assurance during an interview in Abuja yesterday December 16th
"I want to assure all Federal civil servants that, God willing, they will get their salaries before Christmas because we will try as much as possible to pay the salaries before that time"he said

Sacked PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus proceed to Appeal Court
The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus has revealed his intention to proceed to the Appeal Court to challenge the ruling of the High Court, asking him to vacate his seat as chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Secondus and the party, PDP in the appeal dated December 16, and filed by a senior advocate, Emeka Etiaba, urged the court of appeal to set aside the entire judgement of the high court.
Switzerland published list containing 2600 dormant bank accounts worth $44.6 million
A list of 2600 unclaimed dormant bank accounts was made public yesterday Wednesday, December 16, by Swiss Bankers Association which contains over 2,600 accounts and 80 safe deposit boxes.
The total holding in these accounts is estimated at about 44 million Swiss franc ($44.6 million). The online list reveals that Swiss banks currently have around CHF44 million ($44.6 million) of unclaimed assets held in their vaults. In addition, some 80 safe-deposit boxes containing unknown sums of valuables have been listed as dormant.

Former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, retd, whose arrest was ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday over allegations of fictitious award of arms supply contracts, yesterday, countered the Federal Government. He alleged a deliberate campaign to rubbish him by the present administration.
President Buhari ordered Dasuki’s arrest after receiving an interim report of the panel set up on August 31 to probe arms procurement between 2007 and 2015, which allegedly indicted him and others.

According to The Nation, the federal government’s prosecution team warned against granting bail to Dasuki on the grounds that he could be attacked by relatives of ill-equipped soldiers who died in the anti-terror war as a result of Dasuki’s alleged diversion of funds meant for the purchase of arms and ammunition for the military.
Man faces criminal charges after blocking highway to propose to his girlfriend
A man who stopped traffic on one of Houston's busiest highways to propose to his girlfriend may not get the happy ending he was hoping for.
Houston Police Department spokeswoman Jodi Silva confirmed 24-year-old Vidal Valladares will be charged with obstruction of highway, which is a Class B misdemeanor.
Silva said the charge is now winding its way through the Harris County court system. He will have the option of turning himself in, filling out the paperwork and immediately getting bonded out, she said.

Governor Ayo Fayose asks President Buhari to resign
Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has criticised President Buhari over his inability to create the three million jobs he promised Nigerians during his campaign.
He also said that Buhari should resign if he has no clue as to how to solve Nigeria’s economic problems.
According to Punch Newspapers, Fayose said “This is not the change Nigerians voted for. President Buhari must fulfill all his electoral promises to the people. Enough of these flimsy excuses.”
