Shooting in Ohio: One person confirmed dead, 15 others wounded
At least one person is reported dead and 15 wounded in a shooting at a bar in Hamilton, Ohio, on Sunday, according to local media. Police were dispatched to the bar at around 2am local time. The person killed was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, as police are in the process of contacting his family members. Other victims have been taken to local hospitals.
A witness who spoke to WHOTV, Tolu Adeseha said he was inside the bar when he heard at least 15 shots go on for what felt like hours.
Troops captured fleeing ISIS Fighters disguised as women
Some Islamic State fighters who were disguised as women and attempting to flee Manbij, Syria were nab by the opposition force on Thursday. The men, dressed in full black veils, attempted to blend in with civilians fleeing the northern city after coalition forces issued an order to leave Manbij within two days.
Footage of the three men was published online by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Thursday, which consists of predominantly Kurdish fighter. The video shows the men sitting in front of the opposition fighters, with their faces still covered.
Minister of Agriculture Confirms that Farmers will Pay a token for Security
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Chief Audu Ogbeh has restated that Nigerian farmers will not pay mandatory fees for protecting them and their farms .
For the avoidance of doubt, and to clear the confusion that has been generated by media reports, the Honourable Minister wishes to state unequivocally that the NSCDC officials will be available on request by big farm corporation especially those in which the owners live, who can apply for them just as big companies and corporate organisations apply, requesting for security personnel to secure their businesses for a TOKEN.
Okada Riders Protest with Dead Body of Colleague in Benue
Commercial activities were temporarily disrupted in Zaki Biam area of Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, yesterday, as commercial motorcyclists, otherwise known as okada, protested the death of their colleague shot by police.
The man, whose identity could not be ascertained lost his life in a clash between police and Okada riders in the area.
Northen Group lauds Buhari over Civilian JTF, Wants Amnesty for Boko Haram
The Northern Interfaith and Religious Organisation for Peace has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the absorption of some members of the Civilian Joint Taskforce known as civilian JTF fighting the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast into the military and Department of State Services (DSS), saying such move is in the interest of peace after the war on terrorism has been won.
Addressing journalists this morning (Sunday), national coordinator of the group, Bishop Musa Fomson said the concern has been how to disarm and demobilised the youths after circumstances compelled them to bear arms because of the terrorists’ insurrection.

The death has occurred of the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Magaji Abdullahi. Aged 69, Abdullahi died in the early hours of Sunday after a protracted illness at his residence located at NNDC Quarters at Sharada area in Kano metropolis.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the former Press Secretary to the deceased, confirmed this in an interview on Sunday in Kano.
He said that Abdullahi is survived by one wife, many children and grandchildren.

I visited all countries in the Economic Community of West African States except Guinea-Bissau between 2007 and 2010. At that time I enjoyed Lagos but initially found Abuja a little sterile.

Kano: Learner driver squash woman to death
The Word of Faith Christian Centre, Kano, was thrown into mourning on Friday when a learner driver, Gloria Okocha, accidentally crushed another member of the church, Remi Nwokolor, to death.
The tragedy took place at Nomansland, Sabon Gari, Kano. Our correspondent gathered that Okocha was trying to drive out of the church premises when she suddenly hit the victim before colliding against the wall of the church.

Sultan to Muslims: Fight Only When You’re Stopped From Performing Your Religious Obligations
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has warned Muslims in the country against taking laws into their hands.

Sokoto State: Flood destroys about 585 Homes
About 585 houses were destroyed in a late night flood in seven towns of Wurno Local Government of Area of Sokoto State.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Jelani, the Chairman of the local government council, disclosed this in Wurno town, while addressing newsmen on Saturday. As he added that the incident occurred due to heavy rainfall.
“The problem was aggravated by the blockage of some drainage in the affected town and their environs.”

Pandemonium as El-Rufai issues demolition notices to 3,500 houses, 40 churches, 16 schools
A large crowd of residents of Gbagyi Villa – a suburb of Kaduna metropolis – on March 17, trooped out, carrying placards in protest against demolition notices issued to them by Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Authority, KASUPDA. The residents said they had been living in the community for decades and had acquired the necessary titles to the lands and, as such, were jolted by the intention of Kaduna State government to eject them.
Mr. Chris Obodum, Chairman, Gbagyi Community, later told journalists that the community boasted of about 3,500 buildings, 40 churches, 16 schools and 35,000 residents. He narrated: ‘The story of Gbagyi Villa is easy to understand. For hundreds of years, the area has been inhabited by the Gbagyi people. However, sometime in 2010, a suit was instituted against some members of the local community by Kaduna Polytechnic.

James Ibori’s lawyer, Gohil gets £20,000 compensation from Court
A British court has ordered that Bhadresh Gohil, lawyer to the convicted former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, be paid £20,000 by the Crown Prosecution Service for unlawfully detaining Gohil and depriving him of his rights.
According to the BBC, the prosecution agreed to pay the compensation for detaining Gohil for 33 days between November 20 and December 22, 2015.
