Kanu says Acting President Osinbajo's view on Biafra agitation faulty, misconceived


Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, on Wednesday, tackled the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for declaring the Biafran agitation as unconstitutional.

Kanu, in a world press conference he held through his team of lawyers in Abuja, maintained that Osinbajo’s view about Biafra was “patently misconceived and inherently faulty”, despite his rank as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

In a statement signed by his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu, insisted that “extra judicial remarks” Osinbajo made before the Igbo Council of Traditional Rulers, in reference to Biafran agitation, was offensive to section 2 of the 1999 constitution, as amended.

Governor Ambode: Reconstruction Of Oshodi/Int’l Airport Road Begins Next Month


Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said that work on the proposed expansion and reconstruction of the Oshodi-International Airport Road would commence next month.

The Governor, who spoke at the Third Quarter Town Hall Meeting, the 8th in the series, held at the Badore Ferry Terminal, Lagos also disclosed that plans are already underway to commence the construction of 181 local government roads next month.

APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu denies purchasing new plane


A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday debunked reports that he recently purchased a new airplane.

Mr. Tinubu, who ruled as Lagos State governor between 1999 and 2007, described the report as false, stressing that the publication was partial and unfair in the said report.

THISDAY newspaper had in its July 23 edition said that the former Lagos governor recently purchased a new airplane.

Anambra State: Four dead as explosion rocks community


At least, four persons were feared killed on Wednesday, at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State when a cooking gas exploded.

Several persons sustained injuries in the incident.

It was gathered the incident which happened at Trinity Gas Limited Station, at Obosi, occurred during refilling of gas to a customer’s cylinder.

INEC: We need the support of the Media to have a free and fair election


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed to Nigerians that the commission needs the support of the media to its quest for free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria.

Mallam Husaini Pai, its Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Plateau, while on a courtesy visit to the Jos Zonal office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), solicited closer ties with newsmen because media reports determine how elections were viewed.

Five church members remanded in Prison over the alleged murder of a member


Five members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, have been remanded in prison by Evbuoriaria Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Benin, Edo State, an over alleged murder of one of their members.

The accused persons; Godwin Ukrakpor (70), Uche Esegine (22), Taiwo Omogoroye (42), Austin Oni (39) and Meshak Owuh (28); who were arraigned on a two-count charge, allegedly committed the offence at about 5 am on 1 July 2017, at Sapele Road, Benin City, while returning from a vigil.

Boko Haram kill Seven People in Adamawa State


The attack of Boko Haram Terrorists have continued to be on a rise, the recent of the attack is in  Adamawa state, Northeast Nigeria, where seven persons were killed.

The attack took place at Mildo community, Madagali Local Government Area of the state, according to PUNCH.
