Diezani Alison-Madueke Granted Bail


Nigeria’s former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, who was arrested in London on Friday, has been granted bail.

This was after she had been detained for several hours. The London Police also confirmed that she is to be charged to court for money laundering.

Mrs Alison-Madueke was arrested in London on Friday along with four other persons in relation to corruption allegations being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.

Ex Pertoleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke Arrested In London


Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday carried out a search of the Asokoro, Abuja, residence of Diezani Alison-Madueke as part of a multinational investigation of the former minister of petroleum resources.

The former minister was arrested in London, UK, on Friday by the newly formed International Corruption Unit of the country’s National Crimes Agency.

The agency announced on its website on Friday that it had arrested five people “across London” as part of an investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering offences but stopped short of naming the suspects.

Nigeria Move Up One Place, Now 52nd In New FIFA Ranking


The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved one spot up in the monthly FIFA ranking released on Thursday by the world’s football governing body, FIFA, in Zurich, Switzerland.

Nigeria now occupies the 10th spot in the continent (Africa), and the 52nd position in the world.

There were no changes in the top two teams in Africa with Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire retaining the 19th and 21st positions.

Death Toll Rises To 17 in Maiduguri Bomb Blast


Conflicting reports trail the death toll from the multiple bomb explosion which occurred in Maiduguri on Thursday.

Hospital sources say the death toll has risen to 17, but a statement by the Nigerian Army confirms 14 people including 4 suicide bombers dead and 39 others wounded.

The explosions occurred at Sajeri not far away from Ajilari Railway Crossing in Maiduguri on Thursday evening.

Nine Dead In Oregon College Shooting


There has been another gun violence in the United States (US) where nine people have been killed and seven injured in a shooting at a college in Oregon.

The gunman, who is 26-year-old, opened fire at Umpqua Community College on Thursday morning and was killed in a Police shootout.

Arsenal Defender Koscielny Ruled Out Of Manchester Utd Match


Arsenal defender, Laurent Koscielny, will miss Sunday’s match with Manchester United, due to injury.

The defender limped off during Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat to Olympiakos, after suffering a hamstring problem.

Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, has now confirmed that he is facing around three weeks on the sidelines, ruling him out of this weekend’s clash at the Emirates.
