President Jonathan was a guest on AIT's current affairs programme, Kakaki this morning where he spoke on many issues including the Chibok girls, managing the insurgency over the years, purported plans to remove INEC Chairman Prof Attahiru Jega, the opposition, the stoning of his convoy in the North and how he wanted to come down from his vehicle and many other things.

Reacting to the stoning of his convoy during his campaign rally in some states in the North, president Jonathan said some politicians have brainwashed young people who sometimes do not know their left from their right in carrying out such actions. He said he wanted to come down from his car when he saw that some of the people who were stoning his convoy were of 14, 15 and 16 years old who obviously did not know what they were doing.

Emir of Gusau, Kabir Danbaba, dies at 88


Emir of Gusau, Capital of Zamfara State, Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Danbaba, is dead. He died Thursday at a private hospital in Abuja.

Aged 88, the Emir who died after a protracted illness, was first hospitalized at Yariman Bakura Specialits Hospital, Gusau, last month before he was transferred to a private hospital, in Abuja.

He is survived by 37 children and many grand children.

Boko Haram recent attack in Dambua Lives About 68 persons dead


About 68 people confirm dead after the recent assault by Boko Haram members in the most recent attack in Dambua Local government area of Borno state. According to a civilian JTF Leader who spoke with Sahara Reporters, the sect members stormed Njaba village in Dambua Local Government area around 5.30am on Monday March 2nd, killing at least 68 men; from the elderly to children and then setting the entire village on fire.

Podolski could return to Arsenal, says agent


Lukas Podolski's agent has talked up the possiblity of a return to Arsenal or a potential move to Turkey when the forward's loan at Inter comes to an end.

The Germany international has yet to find the net for Inter since joining from Arsenal on a deal until the end of the season in January and there is no agreement in place for him to move to San Siro on a permanent basis.

"Anything could happen," Podolski's representative Ali Pektas told Fanatik.

Abia State Deputy Governorship Candidate Defects to PDP


The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Abia State, Prince Eke Idika has defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Eke who declared for PDP Thursday at the Umuahia Township Stadium during the PDP’s women presidential rally attended by the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, said the decision was informed by his discovery of late, that the PDP had better agenda for the country.

He said, “I decided to drop the broom because the broom does not sweep well; vacuum cleaner sweeps better. If we need change it must be the right change not just any change.”

Ben Carson issues apology after Gay Comments


Ben Carson issued an apology Wednesday after he said homosexuality was a choice. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, cited prison as a basis for his comment that people become gay after they entered the system. The possible 2016 presidential candidate attempted to clear up his comment in a social media post Wednesday night.

“A lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight -- and when they come out, they're gay,” Carson originally said during an interview on CNN. “So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question.”

History was made in Plateau State, Nigeria recently as 107-year old Dikam Garba Dabo’ok and 95-year old Ka’a Nafung got married in a church ceremony which took place at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Chizu village in Bwai, Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

As reported by The Nation, the couple had lived together as husband and wife for 70 years before making their union official as they rekindled their love in the ceremony. The celebrants are the first couple in the history of the state to have marital vows administered on them while they are both that advanced in age and the ceremony has remained the talk of the town and will surely remain so for a long while to come.

United Oldest Military satellite explodes in space while orbiting the Earth


A 20-year-old US military satellite has exploded after experiencing a “sudden spike in temperature” while above the Earth, sending nearly 50 pieces of debris into the planet’s orbit.

SpaceNews reports that a “catastrophic event” has produced 43 pieces of space debris identified near the satellite’s last location, according to the US Air Force Space Command, though officials claimed that impact of the loss of the satellite itself was “minimal”. 

The satellite apparently exploded after what the US Air Force described as a “sudden spike in temperature”.

The incident was first spotted by a senior research astrodynamicist, T.S. Keslo, who tweeted that there had been “another debris event with 26 pieces”. He believed the event had occurred around 3 February, which was later confirmed by the US Air Force.

World's oldest Person Celebrated as She turns 117 in Japan


Okay I saw this article and I was like this can only be true because there is medical proof of her dates of birth. So they are saying the oldest person in the world is 117 yrs? I am sure in Nigeria there are persons who might be above that age and still living but no proof of date of birth. 

The world's oldest person Misao Okawa, a mother of three, grandmother of four and great-grandmother of six, turned 117 on Thursday in western Japan.

Okawa, one of only a handful of people born in the 19th century and still alive "is looking in good shape," an official at her Osaka nursing home told AFP.

Okawa, who came into the world five years before the Wright brothers achieved the first powered human flight, celebrated her birthday a day early, surrounded by family.
